CSL Needs Your Help!

06/23/2018: An Update on the Public Input Meeting, from CSL President, Erik Berg

Reminder...Please attend the Chatham County Parks Department Forum on Tuesday 04/24/2018, any time between 4:30pm and 7:30pm.  The forum will be at:

The Chatham County Agriculture and Conference Center
1192 US 64 W. Business
Pittsboro NC 27312

Please come to the meeting on Tuesday.  The format of the meeting is a brief survey you can complete that will take 10-15 minutes. Quick and painless!  You can drop in anytime between 4:30pm and 7:30pm, whenever is convenient for your schedule.

I drove around and attended many Chatham Soccer League games this past Saturday. I really enjoyed watching the games. CSL is doing well!

In speaking with many folks on Saturday is is very clear that we share common goals and concerns about our future well being as a soccer club, and how we may improve.

This Spring season Chatham Soccer League has been challenged by erratic weather, and also by our county's continuing population explosion.  Despite the efforts of the league and the county to manage play on fields responsibly, our fields are showing some serious wear and tear which will require expensive repairs over the summer to be playable in the Fall season.  Roster adjustments, scheduling changes and those repairs will all be short-term reactionary measures to ensure soccer play in our changing community.

This Tuesday you have a chance to be PROACTIVE, helping shape long-term measures to ensure soccer play for all Chatham County residents, young and old.

The Chatham County Parks Department shared with me the format of the survey and input meeting. I think you will find it to be a user-friendly format, allowing all to participate in the formation of a master plan for park development. And it will just take a few minutes of your time Tuesday evening. DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY!

Erik Berg
Chatham Soccer League President

Chatham Soccer League players, parents, coaches, volunteers, board members, employees, supporters and all Chatham County residents interested in soccer's future in Chatham County.....please place Tuesday April 24th on your calendar!

Help CSL by planning to come to the Public Input meeting at 5:30pm that Tuesday April 24th, at the new Chatham County Agricultural and Conference Center, Suite 400 (Address is 1192 US 64 West Pittsboro NC 27312).

Show up wearing a Chatham Soccer League shirt or jersey if you have one!

We'll arrive en masse and voice our opinions to the officials at the meeting.

CSL receives lots of feedback from parents and other interested parties about playing fields. Here's feedback we hear a lot:

"Chatham County needs more soccer fields!"

"We need turf fields in Chatham County, so our kids can practice and play more, and not worry about rain and other weather canceling practices and games."

"It would really be nice to have a dedicated soccer center like surrounding cities have, to play more games, host tournaments, and give all of Chatham County more time to play soccer."

Yes!  We agree!  Wholeheartedly!  And this public input meeting Chatham County is holding is one of the many ways we can advocate for those very needed soccer fields as Chatham County grows!!

See the flyer below. Plan on coming Tuesday April 24th!  CSL would love to see hundreds of Chatham Soccer League players, parents and supporters there, ready to advocate.

If you live in Western Chatham County note the two other public input sessions. Plan on attending one of those, at Chatham Central High School on Thursday April 26th, or Silk Hope School on Tuesday May 1st.  CSL leadership will also be at those meetings, and you can help them advocate there.

If you have questions before the meetings, or want to get involved, please contact league president Erik Berg at, or our Executive Director, Martin Slavin, at
