Chatham Soccer League’s CSL Red U12 Classic team is U12 division tournament champion at the Impact FC Crossroads Classic Soccer Tournament in Statesville North Carolina this past weekend! The players, coached by Ascary and Liz Arias, played hard over two days to make it into the finals game. The finals game was a close contest, but CSL Red came out on top with a 6-5 victory!
The U12 team has a lot to celebrate in addition to the big tourney win. They are just a week past finishing up their regular season undefeated, winning their Classic division!
The team, which fields a co-ed roster in the boy’s division, is a delight to see play the game. They play a fast, up tempo style, and each player works to stay focused each second of the match. But even with all that focus and determination there are lots of smiles, from getting to play a high level of soccer, and because the players have become good friends.
CSL Red U12 Classic’s coach, Ascary Arias, credits all their success in this Spring 2017 season to one major factor, “training.” He notes,
“As a coach, you have to believe in the ability of your players to understand the game. You have to believe in their ability to handle the pains that come with growing as futbolers and help them understand that the best players and the best teams are made on the practice field. Their performance in games is a testament to the work they put in on the practice pitch.”
